9 Planets? 8? 12? Infinity?

According to today's NYT, Scientist are trying to better define what is a planet, and if tiny, erratic, elliptical Pluto deserves the designation any better than a multitude of moons, asteroids, and 'Kuiper Belt Objects." Wrangling is intense, and the emotional outpouring in favor of saving Pluto from 'de-comissioning' has been startling. Today, a committee of astronomers may re-define the term 'planet' to include Pluto and at least three other lesser bodies, one of which has only a number, not a name..

Aaron Was Here - From Sea To Shining Sea
Not much variety on a map of where I've been in the US, which I created at World66 - I've walked and driven on, and eaten in, all 48 contiguous US states - only Alaska and Hawaii have thusfar eluded me...

Where I've Been - Europe
A closer look at the 17 countries I've visited in Europe, courtesy of World66, an awesome personal travel site that I strongly encourage you to check out. I've only seen 33% of the 51 European countries listed (Malta is a country, UK is listed as England, Wales, Ireland & Scotland), but these compose well over half of Europe's land mass. As you can see, my weak area is Eastern & Central Europe...

Paris of the Middle East
I read a fascinating but sad NYT travel article today about how Beirut had finally regained its well-deserved place on the tourism map, with old-world charm, nightlife, awesome ruins, mountains, and beach. They even launched "Time Out Beirut" just a month or two ago. All swept away by the current troubles, or, at best, postponed half a decade...

Star Vehicle
Three digit days... How hot does it get before the thermometer shatters and the mercury comes spurting out the top? I shouldn't complain, I spent my 11 hour workday indoors and it's a short commute. At least I'm not a gravedigger.... This 'star vehicle' is a brilliant sight gag from Little Miss Sunshine, thus far my favorite film of 2006..
