High Rise Picket Fence
Last Thursday we were invited to dinner on the Upper East Side with JP's fellow volunteers from St Frances Xavier's Sunday soup kitchen... On the terrace, a picket fence and a skyline that reminds me of the credits from 'The Honeymooners..'
Osso Bucco! Garnished!
On the menu was Osso Bucco, literally 'hollow bone'... it's a dish from Milan, Italy, capital of Lombardy, of braised veal shanks. The veal is usually sprinkled with gremolata, a mix of parsley, garlic and lemon peel, and braised in white wine and herbs..
Offsetting the Osso Bucco were two cheese-laden side dishes, the first steamed asparagus...
...and cold noodle salad....
