Drove My Chever To The Lever
This exhibit by Richard Woods is called Port Sunlight and incorporates the global history of Lever House's parent, Unilver.. It's at the Lever House Collection's public space on Park in between 53th and 54th Streets. It's up until January - don't miss it!The Lever Brothers were the first to use glycerine soap and vegetable oils instead of animal fats, a clear, high-lathering soap they named Sunlight Soap. The constructed a model village, Port Sunlight, for these operations, close to where the artist grew up..
Nine patterns are used, with Victorian and Tudor inspirations, draped around the Lever House lobby and outdoor areas, with two large floor pieces printed on aluminum.. I agree that the contrast of dainty old patterns and modernist sleekness is very alluring - that's only original line of this post, largely paraphrased from art sites..
