The Darnedest Places

You find supposedly extinct genre music in the strangest places...

I could have sworn this was a British solo artist, but it's an American duo formed at Harvard! Named after the sculptor of the Lincoln Memorial!!!

This week's Song is a slice of 2009 Paranoid New Wave Bubble Gum that's at least as good as that genre's classics, 'Sunglasses At Night' or 'We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off.' It's humorous, wickedly catchy and clever, and sensitive but naughty (bummed that his girlfriend sleeps around, 'she craves affection / so I use protection). The CD single was even marketed in a condom package (see top right)!

Here the twosome sing 'She Loves Everybody' at Solange Knowles' 22nd birthday bash.. Or are they lip-synching?

Here's Chester French with an entirely different genre, mixing 70s pop with rock and soul, carried by vocals, it's 'Nerd Girl' featuring Janelle Monae. No video here, just a CD single sleeve..
