I Counsel 'A Camp'
I fell in love with today's song, a 60s-style pop gem called 'Love Has Left The Room' by A Camp, without even knowing it was a solo side project of Nina Persson from the Swedish band The Cardigans.
Persson used her first 'A Camp' outing, in 2002, to explore alternative country - new territory- for later use in her band's work. This time A Camp lands firmly in the 60s pop pastiche that is the Cardigans' trademark. I love this sound, even if this violates the rule 'never do a solo album/side project unless you it's music you can't explore within your band.'
I'm in the Baltics on vacation right now. Thanks to David for distributing this week's SOTW!
Here's 'Love Has Left The Room' live on WNYC here in NYC
And of course, the song Nina Persson made famous while fronting the Cardigans, 'Lovefool' from Baz Luhrmann's 'Romeo & Juliet' soundtrack.
