Well, back to work, such as it is, and normalcy after a long weekend and a 10-day visit from my sister and nephew.... It's so quiet!

It can't be legally eaten in a Singapore subway. It's been described as 'eating a linzer tart in an outhouse'! It's Southeast Asia's 'King of Fruits,' the Durian....

Here they are, being sold on Canal Street in Chinatown a few weeks back. Durian are distinctive for being huge (watermelon-sized), thorn-covered, and, most of all, smelly...

Wikipedia says 'some regard the durian as fragrant; others find the aroma overpowering and offensive. The smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust,' accounting for its banishment from many hotels and public transportation in Singapore...

It takes a special hand to dissect one of these babies!
