Mean Clean Inter-Galactic Sheen

G-L-O-R-I-A!

You can't say that Midnight Juggernauts don't have a sense of humor and musical history to match pretty melodic sheen poured over their galloping disco rhythms...

These six callout letters are imbued with musical history, referencing both Van Morrison's 1964 classic garage debuthit (as Them) and the feisty echo of this refrain by Van's fellow Irishmen U2 in the late 80s (U2 also wrote an unrelated song named 'Gloria').

Midnight Juggernauts, however, are a trio from Australia, and their dance music, influenced by 70s Eurodisco, couldn't be further from brash garage rock.  They are mining the same vein as fellow Aussies Presets and Cut Copy, but their flavor is unique...  But what they do, boy do they do well - listen my friends to the pretty, otherworldly synth sheen and Bowie-sque delivery of today's Song/Video of the Week, 'Into The Galaxy'...

The Juggernauts, hailing from Melbourne, released an incredibly solid and compelling debut album, 'Dystopia,' that would do their Eurodisco influences (Moroder, Cerrone, Midney) proud... The song that grabbed my attention, 'Road to Recovery,' is the most muscular, chugging - though suffused with 80s and 90s dance textures, carefree 70s harmonics and trippiness carries the day. It's their only real 'video' that's not mostly performance, and a memorable video it is...

Here's their second single, 'Shadows,' another pretty and sheer disco trot, with more low-budget video trippiness.. Similar to 'Galaxy', but not a retread - like songs in a grand disco suite... When not recording and performing, the Juggernauts are quite busy remixing other people's work, but that's a story for another day...
