Ironi-tronica Pop?
Very little's know about Fol Chen, who provide today's Song of The Week, 'Cable TV,' a studiedly faux cheesy come-on delivered in an ironically deadpan tone, wth a melody that plink-plunks along with a delicious midtempo synth groove. I call this 'ironi-tronica'I think they're six art students from Highland Park, CA, five guys and one gal. Their videos abound in animation.
I discovered this song on Pitchfork's Forkcast, a endless stream of the musical new and noteworthy...
Without further ado, the "Cable TV" clip that brought Fol Chen to my attention....
