A Tavola Non S'Invecchia
Old Italian Proverb says 'you don't get old at the table, ' meaning that the joy of sharing a good meal with good company is so salutary and invigorating that it momentarily suspends time.
I love to cook for close friends, family, and when I'm lucky enough to have one, a boyfriend.
Last weekend was a sonata of lovely dinners, first on Friday with Fernando and then Sunday with David & Alex. Some photographic highlights. At left, the scene is set....
To flash, or not to flash. Fernando: Light and Dark...The Honeymooners: David and Alex are now living together in a W 52nd street highrise with southern light and digital service requests. Can't wait to see it, and so happy they're in New York! No food photos from that lovely dinner - Asparagus & Exotic Mushroom Sautée with Pancetta followed by Camarones en Salsa Verde (Shrimps in Green Sauce), set off my superb red wine and topped up with lovely Haagen Dasz Mayan Chocholate & Rum Raisin ice cream. I kept the Halloween decor for their aesthetic pleasure. David also helped me further unravel the mysteries of my new iPhone...
Dinner with Fernando featured Pollo Scarpariella alla Nanni - Chicken thighs in wine and lemon sauce...
This was complemented by Brown Mushroom Rice with Orzo...
I moved in for a close shot of the chicken, and steamed up my lens, to artistic effect..
Salad days, to Europeans are sunset years, as they finish a meal with salad. We used this beet & bean medley to begin our repast...
