Snowbound in late June at Lassen Volcanic National Park in California's rarely-visited northeastern corner, near the Nevada-Oregon border. When thawed out, Lassen is a mini-Yellowstone. Lassen Peak is an active volcano that erupted many times from 1914 to 1921, the last major US eruption before Mount St. Helens in 1980.
