The Gay Outdoors

Just got back from a lovely weekend in the country at my gay outdoor group's Taconic Lodge. That's located in Millerton, NY, near the 3-way border with Massachusetts and Connecticut, and is a cute little town with a few antique shops and latte parlors. Today, I hiked to Bash Bish falls (pictured left), and yesterday up a very steep ridge. I hung out with some very interesting people, and cooked them dinner, my first kitchen foray in ages. I made a lovely chicken and wine dish with flavored rice and housemate Joe made a crisp spinach salad. Dessert was a baked frozen raspberry-blackberry pie. All in all, a charming weekend. I was especially happy that it was coed - frankly, I feel way underexposed to lesbians, it was a breath of fresh air. I wish that gay men and lesbians mingled more often - I haven't seen this enough, outside of community-oriented and political circles, and of course in my halcyon undergrad days at Vassar.
