Dozen of Planets, One Better World

"9 Planets? 12? What's a Planet, Anyway" is an excellent article in today's NYT Science section. The topic: as astronomers discover more and varied bodies, there is talk of de-classifying Pluto as a planet, of distinguishing two types of planets, or of abandoning the term 'planet' altogether. This isn't your grandpa's planetarium, you know..

Time magazine's front page article about gay teens is fascinating (can't link to it, it's pay-only). Today's teen generation might actually diffuse this front of the culture wars, in that straight teens increasingly see gays as totally normal, and henceforth gay teens feel more accepted and less militant than their older gay brethren. In any case, they sound happy, and are entering adult life, sexually and otherwise, with much less trauma and drama than before.
