Closing Walls and Ticking Clocks

Well, four days back in NY, and still recovering. But, at least, I feel well enough to meet my friend Pat for dinner and a movie tonight, after cancelling social plans all week....

At left, beautiful Kabul, Afghanistan.

Heard the new Coldplay CD last night, three days ahead of its release, and it is a cathartic, envigorating work of beauty, building on the group's strengths and taking few chances. It should definitively cement them as the most respected rock group of the decade, a mantle previously worn by U2 and REM. The first single, 'Speed Of Sound,' is lovely, though very much in the same vein as 'Clocks,' the song that put them over to a mass audience two years ago.
