The Food Journey: Return to Cornwall Bridge Part 2

A weekend at the Xs' up in Cornwall Bridge, CT, up on the rim of the baby Berkshires, on the Appalachian trail.   The Xs eat well, thanks to the talents of Paula (Mrs X) and especially Mr X.   Stuffed chickens, stuffed guests... potatoes of perfection (and it's not my favorite starch, you know). I have a lot to learn about focusing. This would never happen to Thomas, the birthday boy (see above).

From humble beginnings... Each of these birds (chickens, not hens) contained roughly a stick of herb butter...

Now that's my favorite starch... Paula's delightful curried rice!

Mr X's amazingly light-textured but nutty brownies, contrasted with pastries from Zabars brought by the future Mrs Bevan Rosenbloom...

Bevan and Cheryl got engaged last month! I'll be dancing at their wedding come August 30! He's so attentive!

We
toasted the hospitality, and the betrothed couple's future happiness, with my re-gifted champagne...

It's Chef X. I promised not to include his name in this post, since people kept googling my last visit and expecting gourmet feasts whenever they visited : - ). Chef X and his wife are old friends and ex-colleagues - their son, 'Baby X,' is also a great friend and works with me and Bevan.

and here's
Baby X, relaxing at his parents' (borrowed) hilltop hideaway..
