São Paulo Sprawl
I'll be among the millions of cars congesting São Paulo's complex maze of streets, avenues, and highways, as I truck from meeting to meeting to meeting. Yesterday, we began way out in Alphaville, west of of the city, and doubled back to the River Pinheiros highway or 'marginal.' The Pinheiros approximates this vast city's western border, and the Tiête River acts as a northern border. Here's where the two meet, in São Paulo's north-western corner... These rivers, you may notice, are not very swimmable
Slightly south of center, in the Aclimação area are an avenue (pictured) and a lovely park by the same name...
May 25th Highway is a north-south artery that approximates a Los Angeles Freeway in rush hour creep... I generally stay in Jardins, near Avenida Paulista, the city's highest point and approximate center, and I travel this road to get to the local airport, Congonhas, to hop a quick 'bridge' or shuttle to Rio.. We'll do this tomorrow night...
May 25th Highway again, clever photo effect....
